Rescues/Surrenders

For a closer look at these animals and to see feedings, I also book private tours and family tours by donation.

This is a youn female green anaconda. She was surrendered by the same guy I got a bunch of other snakes from when he could no longer pay to feed them. She hadn't eaten for over 3 months when I got her and took another 2 to get her to finally take down a little rat. Now she eats like a pig but still needs to put on a little weight. She doesn't come to shows quite yet but will once she is back up to health.

Green anacondas are from South America  and can get over 20 feet long!

This is my three toed box turtle. He was surrendered to me with his girlfriend and a reeves turtle. When i got them they were living in a small enclosure but now are in a huge tank with lots of room to play in. This guy loves to run around the house and is probably one of the most active turtles i have!

Three toes box turtles come from southern United States and usually grow up to 5 inches long.

This is my 20 pound common snapping turtle. When I rescued this guy he was living in water so dirty you couldn't even see him in the little tub he called home...Now he is in a big tank and as you can see, clean water!! My friend Ray named him Rat trap because of his massive appetite for rats..

Common snapping turtles come from all over north America and when full grow can weigh as much as 35 pounds!

This is my angry little green basilisk. He was surrendered to me when his owner could no longer handle his aggression. I have had basilisks in the past and they are usually a little jumpy but this one will bite you whenever he gets the chance! Other than that, he is a gorgeous lizard and I am happy to have him!

Green basilisks are from south America and can grow up to 24 inches.

This is Chance and he is a green iguana. He's about 4 feet right now so he's still got a bit of growing to do. Chance is probably the most laid back iguana I have ever seen and even gets along with my dog! He likes to wander around the house knocking everything over in his path and loves attention. When you scratch his neck, he actually closes his eyes and leans into it!

Green iguanas are from central and south America and can grow up to 6 feet long.

The one in the front right is Hacksaw. He was originally given to me by a friend who didn't want him anymore and then I adopted him out to another friend in the film industry. Now he has been given back to me because of his unpleasant (but normal) attitude. The worst injury that I have ever gotten from a reptile was from this guy a few years back. His mouth hit my hand (didn't actually bite) and I had to get 17 stitches!!

Spectacled caiman are from South America and can grow over 8 feet long.

Ok, Ignore buddy on the left, this is about his girlfriends..The one in the middle was surrendered to me by a boy that had just lost interest in her. She is a very healthy and good looking bearded dragon and as you can see, she likes her veggies. The one on the right with a mouth full of food is another female that i just got in Jan. 09. The people that had her and a few others were having some hard times and just wanted a good home for her.

Here are 3 savanna monitors.  The one in the top left corner is a rescue named Kiko which was almost dead when  got her. The other 2 are surrenders from people who could no longer house these larger lizards and they are still not even half grown yet!

Savanna Monitors are from Africa and can grow to about 4 or 5 feet long.

Here is my poor little water dragon. She was given to me as a "healthy female" but looked like she was dead. As you can see, she has rubbed her face pretty bad, it's actually down to the bone but it is healing pretty well now. Also, if you look at her hand in the pic, she is missing almost all of her fingers. I don't know what happened to her but she has a good home now and seems happy!

These water dragons are from China and can grow up to about 2 feet long.

Now we have Helga! She is an albino burmese python that was surrendered to me when her previous owner passed away. As you can see she is a pretty large snake, (over 15 feet long and close to 200 pounds!), but she still has a lot more growing to do. She is one of the most docile reptiles I have and comes out whenever I do a show.

Burmese pythons come from Southeast Asia and can grow up to 25 feet long!

This is Kali. She is a normal burmese python which was surrendered to me from another rescue in the okanagan. When I got her she had a very large injury on her back which looked like a burn of some sort. The injury has completely healed but she does still have a scar that stretches about 2 feet down her body. She is Helgas travelling buddy and attends every show.

Burmese pythons come from Southeast Asia and can grow up to 25 feet long.

This is a yellow bellied slider. She was surrendered to me after her owners moved into an apartment which didn't allow pets. She is now living with the caiman and other turtles and seems pretty happy.

Yellow bellied sliders come from souther USA and can grow up to 12 inches long.

This is a young albino burmese python named Chiquita that was rescued in November of 2007. He was hatched out in July of the same year and only ate once till I got him. It took about a month of unpleasant force feeding and lots of TLC but he is doing awesome now and wont stop eating!

Burmese pythons come from Southeast Asia and can grow up to 25 feet long!

This is my columbian tegu that was surrendered to me in early 2009. Unfortunatly, her previous owner felt that it liked to do drugs and would blow certain smoke in it's face all the time. She actually told me that a few times.... Sometimes it's really too bad these guys can't talk for themselves.. She is doing awesome now and sometimes comes to shows.

Columbian tegus are from South America and can grow over 3 feet long.

This little girl is the girlfriend of the turtle at the top of the page. She is another three toed box turtle. She is the more shy one of the pair and rarely comes out when people are around. Box turtles actually have hinged shells and can actually close them completly to get away from predators!

Three toes box turtles come from southern United States and usually grow up to 5 inches long.

This is probably one of the ugliest turtles alive...but i still love him...He is called a reeves turtle and came in with the box turtles. He doesn't actually like the water too much and prefers to spend most of his time hiding on the land away from the caiman. He is really shy but when he does actually come out you can see his bulging black eyes staring at you!

Reeves turtles come from China and grow to about 5 inches long

This is one of my female red boa constrictors. She was given to me by a friend of mine after  it was given to him. She isn't the friendliest of snakes but is actually taming down nicely. This one doesn't go to the shows, she just hangs out in her enclosure at home.

Boa constrictors come from south america and can grow over 10 feet long.

This is my new argentine tegu. He came from a home in kelowna that could no longer care for him due to his size and housing requirements. He hasn't gone to any shows yet but will soon.

Argentine tegus come from South America and can grow to over 4 feet long.

This is my angry female green iguana. She came to me because she was getting too aggressive for her previous owner. She is now living with my male but still tries to beat him up occasionally... I really do think she is calming down but she will not be attending any shows...

Green iguanas are from central and south America and can grow up to 6 feet long.

This is an "increased melanin gene" ball python. It is basically a normal ball python with really light coloring. Eventually, it will darken up. It isn't proven genetic and can't intentionally be reproduced yet. I think it is one of the cooler ball pythons i've seen around.

Ball pythons come from Africa and usually grow to around 4 or 5 feet long.

This little girl is a red tail boa. She was surrendered to me quite a while ago and attends every show I go to. She, along with many others, get to hang out on the birthday childs neck during birthday shows.

Red tail boa constrictors come from south america and can grow over 10 feet long.

This gorgeous little boa is a Pastel phase red tailed boa. Normally a snake like this wouldn't be surrendered due to it's value but it's previous owner was having some real problems. He also surrendered the next two snakes below. This boa also comes to all the shows.

Red tail boa constrictors come from south america and can grow over 10 feet long.

This is a nicaraguan boa and the picture doesn't really show how good she actually looks.. She is one of the 3 surrenderes that I got at the same time. She goes to every show and really demonstrates how strong boa constrictors really are!

Nicaraguan boas come from South America and grow to about 5 feet long.

This little boy is a desert sonoran boa constrictor. There aren't too many of these around but they are a cool looking snake. When you see it up close, you see alot of orange on it. She is a very friendly snake and comes to all the shows.

Sonoran boas come from southern USA and Mexico and can grow up to 5 feet.

My friend and I found this poor little bearded dragon on the ground in the back yard of the former reptile refuge after it was shut down. I'm not sure if it was just let go or and escaped beardie but it was in very poor health when we caught it. I am going to put it up for adoption in the near future but it will need a very caring new owner.

Bearded dragons come from Australia and can grow up to 2 feet long.

This big boy is my new red tailed boa. He was surrendered along with another male after their owner went on vacation and never came back... He is in exellent health and is about 7 feet long. I have started bringing him out to shows now as he seems to be a very friendly snake.

Red tail boa constrictors come from south america and can grow over 10 feet long.

This little girl was turned over to me after her owner realized that they could not afford to have as many reptiles at they currently had. She is a pretty friendly ball python and I might keep her for future breeding projects.

Ball pythons come from Africa and usually grow to around 4 or 5 feet long.

This is by far the most aggressive and dangerous snake in the collection. He is a reticulated python named Squeeze. He was turned over to me from the reptile refuge right before they closed and has a very very bad attitude! He doesn't look it but is close to 10 feet long! Unfortunatly, he doesn't come to any shows but can be seen striking at me during private tours!

Reticulated pythons come from Southeast Asia and are the longest snakes in the world reaching lengths of over 28 feet!!!
